Mary Eastman paintingCurrent Art Show: Landscapes Near and Far
Acrylic and watercolor paintings by Julie Eastman
Now - August 10, 2009

Julie Eastman grew up in Illinois and received her B.A. from Kalamazoo College in Michigan. While living in the Boston area she took watercolor classes from Linda Bond, and a plein air workshop with nationally known watercolorist Betty Lou Schlemm, AWS. Since Julie's move to North Carolina in 1997, she has taught watercolor at the Sertoma Art Center and Pullen Art Center in Raleigh, and also at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro. She now offers classes through The ArtsCenter in Carrboro. Julie continues to work in both watercolor and acrylics. Her paintings are always appreciated at art venues throughout the Triangle area. More of Julie Eastman's work can currently be seen at Main St. Gallery. She is a member of the Orange County Artists Guild.

Julie also has a presentation at the Century Center on Friday, the 12th of June:
"How Paintings Work: Compositional Issues in Painting"
Why do certain paintings appeal to us while others seem ho-hum or ugly? It's not merely a matter of personal taste. Effective images incorporate principles of composition and values (tones). Julie will explain these principles in non-technical language, using lively illustrations and hands-on techniques. Once you recognize how paintings work, you will see them with fresh eyes.
Sponsored by the Orange County Artists Guild
Location: Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro St., Carrboro, NC
Date/Time: 6:00-7:00pm, Friday June 12, 2009
Julie's presentation coincides with the Second Friday Art Walk on June 12. It is free and open to the public.
