Glorious July at Panzanella!
July brings to our kitchen all of the glories of the summer table that make working with (and eating) food in this wonderful, abundant part of the country so satisfying.

Totally Local Dinner Tomorrow!
Thursday, June 29, 5:30-9:00pm
Featuring Perry-Winkle Farm

Panzanella celebrates the abundance of delicious local food with our series of Farm Dinners. In addition to our full dinner menu, exciting dishes created with ingredients from the featured farm will be served.

Cathy Jones and Mike Perry have been farming Perry-winkle Farm for about twenty years and are leaders in our local agricultural community. You'll find them at all the Farmers' Markets with an abundance of fresh, high-quality produce.

A variety of crops keep the farm productive throughout the entire growing season, starting with lettuce, greens, broccoli, and other cool-season-crops in the spring. Perry-winkle's summer harvest includes okra, peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, beans, potatoes, squashes, cucumbers, herbs, and Cathy's stunning cut flowers.

Visit them at the Fearrington Farmers' Market on Tuesdays and at the Carrboro Farmers' Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Cathy is a wealth of information and loves to share her knowledge and experience with customers.

German Wine Dinner
Monday July 17, 2006, 7pm-9:30pm

Join us in welcoming Jutta Bracy of Owl's Nest Wine Importers and Distributors for a rare opportunity to explore "terroir" as it can be appreciated in a selection of German wines. We will parallel taste hand-crafted, single vineyard wines of some of Germany's viticultural regions, and experience the clear and unmistakable geographical character that shows up in the finished wine. Plenty of artfully matched foods will be served from the Panzanella kitchen to complement these memorable wines.

The cost of this event is $40 per person. Space is limited, so reserve early. Please pay in advance and pick up tickets for this tasting at either Panzanella or the customer service desk at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro.

Tickets are also available for:
North Carolina Wine Dinner, August 14, 7pm-9:30 pm
Local Beer Dinner, Monday, August 7, 7pm-9:30pm

Bar News
Our new list of summer drink specials includes five refreshing, summer cocktails. For a beverage evocative of long relaxing days at the beach try the Caribbean Breeze - a mixture of two rums, Cointreau and pineapple juice on ice.

Also on the list are: Strawberry Sunrise, Banana Popsicle, Chocolate Raspberry Martini, and our Piña Colada Martini.

Our latest wine list offers so much to add to the pleasure of your meal. Just to mention two that are available by the bottle: The beautiful, French white, Chateau de la Saule Montagny 1er Cru 2004 will make you adore chardonnay again. For a red, I always have to recommend Abbona Barbera d'Alba 2003, with it's fresh berry fruit. It has less acidity than other Barberas you may have tried, and loves all things Italian. Among our wonderful wines by the glass, for as long as we can get it at the current price, we have Ricossa Barolo 2001. Yes, Barolo by the glass.
July 4th!
On Tuesday, the 4th of July, we will be open for lunch, but closed for dinner. Have a very happy Independence Day!
