| March Wine Dinner | |||
March 17, 7:00 - 9:30 pmSince March 17 is Saint Patrick's Day AND since there are no Irish wines to speak of, we ran with the 'green' theme for this dinner. These days, green can mean a lot of things like 'organic' or 'sustainable'. At March's Wine Dinner, we'll be looking at several classifications for wines: organic, made with organic grapes, sustainable certified, even salmon-safe. Organic wines and wines produced sustainably, just like foods, are being sought for their purity, quality, deliciousness and even conscience. Hundreds of years ago, chemicals weren't available as they are now, so people developed natural ways to keep their vines and grapes healthy. These days many vineyard managers, wine makers, and wineries are reverting to older methods of sustaining healthy vineyards. Interested in tasting delicious wines? Well, you can do it while knowing they are produced in a "green" fashion. Join us for an evening of wonderful wines and plenty of delicious food prepared by Panzanella Chef, Chris Capron. The cost of this event is $45 per person; space is limited, so reserve early. Please pay in advance and pick up a ticket for this tasting at either Panzanella (919.929.6626) or the customer service desk at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro (919.929.0010). |

Controlled ChaosAcrylic Paintings by Catherine Carter February 5 - March 31, 2008 About the Artist: Catharine Carter is a native of Chapel Hill and grew up in an artistic family. She graduated from UNC with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Painting and Intaglio Printing. After an introductory photography course in her freshman year, she worked as a darkroom technician at UNC photo lab and was a special event photographer for the University until graduation. In 1975, Catharine joined the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and began her career photographing brides, weddings, families, and University events. She currently works as a portrait photographer at her home/studio/garden on historic Ransom Street in Chapel Hill, NC. Catharine returns to her fine art roots, exploring the process of conflict and resolution with the paintings in this exhibit. Emotions are expressed, explored, and challenged with color, linear movement and composition. In a process that Catharine likens to journaling, she allows uncensored emotions to flow onto the canvas, then imposes visual order within the chaos. The artist invites us to experience the process of meeting chaos and coming to resolution through these paintings. Join us at Panzanella for Catharine Carter's Public Reception on Monday, March 3, 2008, 5:30 - 7:30 pm. The artist receptions are a perfect opportunity to meet the artist and fellow art lovers, and to see the work while the restaurant is closed. Light hors d'oeuvre will be served, and the bar will be open. |

Cordero Montezemolo Arneis, 2006Made from 100% Arneis grapes, this wine comes from the Langhe region, the place of origin of some of Italy's most prestigious red wines. With a bright straw color, an intense bouquet of peach and acacia blossoms, hazelnuts and spring flowers, and a luscious, creamy texture, this white wine is a feast for the senses. It has a refreshingly subtle, bitter finish with a hint of almond. Arneis is a very versatile white, and accompanies our NC Rainbow Trout on the Dinner menu beautifully. We also love it with the Grilled Chicken Panini at Lunch, the Eggs "Rarebit" from the Sunday Brunch menu, as well as with any vegetable soups. Also excellent as an aperitivo. $7.50 by the glass $35.00 by the bottle |
