"Preservation" paintings by Mary Charlton Now - September 28, 2008 Public Reception: Monday, August 11, 2008, 5:30 - 7:30 PM Through the paintings in this exhibit, Mary Charlton preserves her memories of animals in their environments and of a rapidly changing lanscape. The buildings and ways of life visible in some of this artwork are identified with a time and place (rural North Carolina) that is still familiar, but losing ground. The paintings reveal emotions, dreams, and the basic elements of life and earth. The artist's themes concern the earth and her creatures, boundaries and freedom. Email Mary Charlton here. |
