Eco Farm Dinner Monday, August 24, 5:30 - 9:00 pm Featuring a special menu with exciting dishes created with ingredients grown by John & Cindy Soehner Right here in Orange County, Cindy and John Soehner's Eco Farm consists of twenty-three acres of forest and farm, where the weeds grow as vigorously as the flowers and the vegetables. Like many of our small local farms growing the organic way, most of the work at Eco Farm is done by hand. Both John and Cindy agree that it takes a lot of hard work to grow without the use of pesticides and other chemicals, but they freely acknowledge that they've gotten a lot of help from the farmers in this area. >>> more |

 The Soehners will grow anything that people want to buy, and they have become known for their arugula, shiitake mushrooms, and pork sausages. Finding fresh goodies from Eco Farm is easy. They sell at all the local markets, Carrboro on Wednesday and Saturday, Fearrington on Tuesday and Southern Village on Thursday. Join us at Panzanella on the evening of Monday, August 24, and enjoy a special menu created to show off the wonderful, August flavors from Eco Farm. Our next Farm Dinner will be Monday, September 28 with Chapel Hill Creamery. |

 Have you tried our summer dinner specials? For the next little while, we'll be featuring these delicious entrees:Our Grilled, Spiced Pork Tenderloin is served with roasted potatoes, sautéed broccolini, and an apricot/red pepper glaze, topped with pickled okra. The Farmstead Pasta is linguine tossed with peppers, onions, tomatoes and Giacomo's Chicken Sausage, and topped with Parmesan cheese. Also available without the chicken sausage, Vegetarian Farmstead Pasta is linguine tossed with peppers, onions, and tomatoes, topped with Parmesan cheese. Another luscious summer treat, Pizza Liguria features freshly made pesto sauce, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. We named this pizza after the region that created pesto—that fragrant summer sauce made from fresh basil, excellent olive oil, garlic, and pine nuts. Liguria is a narrow strip of spectacular coastline surrounded by mountains. This small region stretches from France to Tuscany on the Ligurian Sea. It is known for its exciting capital city, Genoa, its many beaches, beautiful resort towns and wild stretches of coast, perfumed by lemon trees, herbs, flowers, almonds and pines. And of course, Liguria is also known for its exquisite cuisine. Wine Feature - Try the Valpolicella, Corte Majoli, 2006 with any of these summer specials. A fruity red, reminiscent of raspberries and cherries, it's an easy-drinking wine with medium body and soft tannin. It is currently featured as one of the wines offered at $10 a bottle on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and still an excellent value on all other days at $5 a glass or $22 a bottle. Or, if you prefer something chilled in this steamy weather, the Domain de Luc cabernet Sauvignon Rosé from Languedoc, France complements bright, summery flavors in its own deliciously refreshing way—with the same cool prices as the Valpolicella. |

| New Art Show | |||
 Designer/Artist ExhibitThrough October 12th, Panzanella will host an exhibit of personal artwork by professional designers. In selecting work for the Designer/Artist exhibit, it became clear that the design work of some individuals often crosses over into the realm of fine art. For others, their design work is almost unrelated to their artwork. So, it seemed that for our first exhibit with this theme, maintaining the distinction might not be so important. The Designer/Artist Exhibit consists mainly of the paintings and drawings of graphic designers. Panzanella's dining room does not generally support the display of 3-dimensional artwork or very small pieces, but for this show, we are very pleased to display a large mask created for Paperhand Puppet Intervention and a necklace made by a jewelry designer. We hope that you will come by and see the surprisingly diverse work of this remarkable group of local creative professionals. And, please join us at the Artists' Reception on Monday, August 31st, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, to meet the artists and get a closer look at the artwork while the restaurant is closed. The reception is free and open to the public. |
