| Ciao from your local goodie, Panzanella! Chapel Hill Creamery Farm Dinner Monday, September 28, 5:30 - 9:00 pm The evening begins with special dinner presentation: The cheesemakers of CHC visit Italy, and the world's biggest cheese festival! For this delightful evening, Panzanella Chef Jim Nixon will create a menu of special dishes, showcasing the impressive quality and deliciousness of cheeses from Chapel Hill Creamery. (We will also offer a slightly abbreviated version of our regular dinner menu.) During the first hour, Chapel Hill Creamery owners and cheesemakers, Portia McKnight and Flo Hawley will be available to share with you what they've learned about the art of Italian cheese during their recent trip to Bra, Italy. Italian-born Alessandra Trompeo, who works as a cheesemaker at Chapel Hill Creamery, arranged the farm and creamery visits in Italy for McKnight and Hawley, and will also join the hour-long discussion, which takes place from 5:30 to 6:30. >>> more |

| Chapel Hill Creamery Farm Dinner con't | |||
The Chapel Hill Creamery started with a desire to make cheese about seventeen years ago. Portia McKnight and Flo Hawley visited the Ashe County Cheese Plant, pushing them closer to taking the leap to make their own cheese. While investigating local sources of milk, they decided that to get the freshest, highest quality milk, they would need to produce it themselves. With that in mind, they developed their underlying philosophy of raising "cows that are healthy and happy and improving the quality of the land". Chapel Hill Creamery is located off Dairyland Road in Orange County and consists of 18 acres with a mixture of rye, clover and Red River crab grass. The cows move to fresh pasture twice a day, allowing the cows to eat the very best part of the grass and allowing the grass to grow back before the pasture is used again. The herd is composed of Jersey cows because they produce creamy, rich, delicious milk, they are more tolerant of the heat and they are better suited to the intensive grazing system that Flo and Portia use. Portia and Flo maintain the purity of their product by keeping their herd healthy and by monitoring the quality of the milk as it goes through production. The Chapel Hill Creamery makes around 6-7 kinds of cheese, including Carolina Moon and New Moon (Camembert-like), fresh Mozzarella, Farmer's cheese (also a fresh cheese), feta and one raw-milk, aged cheese made in the monastery style. Monastery cheeses were traditionally named after the monastery where they were made, and in keeping with that, they named their monastery cheese Hickory Grove after the Baptist Church at the end of their road. Join us September 28th, and enjoy a special menu with exciting dishes created with products produced by Portia McKnight & Flo Hawley. |

As the seasons change, so do our menus. On the Lunch and Sunday Brunch menus, we've added Homemade Meatloaf Panini. The filling of this scrumptious, nourishing sandwich is our own meatloaf, made with local grass-fed beef and pasture-raised pork, with mozzarella, grilled onion and a Dijon-horseradish aioli. And, two new desserts: The summery Fruit Cobbler has been replaced by the autumnal goodness of Cinnamon Apple Crisp, served with Homeland Creamery Vanilla Ice Cream. And for those of us who crave the chocolate rush, the Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake, also served with Homeland Creamery Vanilla Ice Cream, is just so perfectly satisfying. |

| New Art Show | |||
Designer/Artist ExhibitThrough October 12th, Panzanella is currently hosting an exhibit of personal artwork by professional designers. In selecting work for the Designer/Artist exhibit, it became clear that the design work of some individuals often crosses over into the realm of fine art. For others, their design work is almost unrelated to their artwork. So, it seemed that for our first exhibit with this theme, maintaining the distinction might not be so important. The Designer/Artist Exhibit consists mainly of the paintings and drawings of graphic designers. Panzanella's dining room does not generally support the display of 3-dimensional artwork or very small pieces, but for this show, we are very pleased to display a large mask created for Paperhand Puppet Intervention and a necklace made by a jewelry designer. We hope that you will come by and see the surprisingly diverse work of this remarkable group of local creative professionals. |

| Bar Specials Coming! | |||
Starting on Tuesday, September 22, we'll have a new list of Bar Specials, and OK—so, all of these sound great—the Italian Margarita, Alfredo's Martini, and Absolute Symphony. But, Tiramisu Delight is the iced coffee of my dreams - a rich, stimulating, irresistible delight, made with Godiva chocolate liqueur, Kahlua, milk, and a shot of espresso, served on the rocks and topped with whipped cream—yes, indeed. |
