| Perry-winkle Farm Dinner! | |||
Monday, June 285:30-9:00 pm Every summer Panzanella celebrates the bounty of delicious foods from our local farmers with a series of farm dinners. Chef Jim Nixon creates a special menu with a signature item from the farm. This month we will be featuring Perry-winkle Farm's beautiful, inspiring potatoes. Cathy Jones and Mike Perry have been farming organically in northern Chatham County since 1990. Sustainable practices such as cover crops, crop rotation, and biodiversity help keep pests and diseases in check and enhance crop quality. You can meet Cathy and Mike and treat yourself to their fantastic foods and flowers by shopping at the Carrboro Farmers' Market on Saturdays, 7:00 a.m. until noon and Wednesdays, 3:30-6:30 pm. |

Three New Wines on the List!Weingut Markus Huber Grüner Veltliner Hugo 2008 Refreshing and crisp with plenty of fruit, minerality and richness balanced with bright acidity, this Austrian white is a food friendly wine that pairs deliciously with chicken, fish, shellfish or cheeses, and is especially good at balancing the heat of spicy dishes. Try it at Lunch or Dinner, with the Steamed Mussels or the Calamari. At Brunch, the Crabcake Benedict is a good match. But honestly, this is a very versatile wine, so don't hesitate to order it with anything that pleases you. It's also a delight to sip on its own on any summer evening. Dona Paula Los Cardos Malbec 2008 Soft, juicy and fruit forward with generous flavors of fresh red and black berries and plums—a touch sweet with a lovely texture. This Argentinean Malbec is an amazing value. Any pizza or panini on our menus will be even better with a glass of this thoroughly enjoyable red. Insoglio del Chinghiale, Toscana Rosso 2007 From Bibbona, south of the ancient hilltop city of Volterra comes an impressive red blend of hand-harvested Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. A wine worth slowing down for—Insoglio del cinghiale has a deep ruby color with warm aromas of cherries, vanilla, plums, subtle flowers and rustic notes of leather, earth and sweet spices. Full-bodied with intense fruitiness and plenty of acidity, yet silky on the tongue, this is a balanced, luscious wine with distinctive personality. We could go on and on, raving about this beautiful Italian red, but it's better that you try it for yourself, maybe with the Pappardelle or the Pan-seared Salmon at dinner. |

LayersOil Paintings by Cat Moleski June 15 - August 16, 2010 Artist Reception: Monday, June 21, 5:30 - 7:30 pm Capturing scenes of daily life, Cat Moleski's lush colors, and impressionistic style transform these moments into dream-like vignettes. Images both real and surreal take on new meaning as layer upon layer of paint and color coalesce, contrast, and enliven the scenes. Some figures are true to form, some are distorted but all are representative of the constant conflict between perception and reality. Cat Moleski has been painting in oils for over twenty years. She received her BFA from Alfred University in upstate New York. She has spent two residencies at the Vermont Studio Center. You may view more of her work at her website: www.catmoleski.com Please join us at Panzanella for Cat's reception on Monday, June 21st, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Panzanella's artist receptions are informal, fun gatherings of local art lovers. Enjoy this opportunity to meet the artist, and get a closer look at the artwork. Light hors d'oeuvre will be served, and our full bar will be open. The reception is free and open to the public. |
